Sorry im so bad at blog updates
So much has happend since the last post. We have been to the cities of Banos, Cuenca, Mancora Beach, Trujillo, Huaraz, Lima, and Ica! We are currently back in Lima trying to get allison a brazilian visa. We went to ballestas island yesterday (poor mans galapagos) and saw a wide array of sea lions, penguins, dolphins, and so many birds. The whole island was covered in bird poop. That afternoon we went sandboarding on the dunes near huacachina. Allison managed to go down on her feet but I just surfed down on my stomach. The buggy drivers were crazy and we went flying over the dunes. Later we watched the sunset over the desert and it was incredibly beautiful. All that was just yesterday. A brief summary of the other stuff we have seen: beautiful waterfalls in banos and bike rides in the rain. Then we went to cuenca which was incredible, the corpus christi festival was going on and the streets were full of sweets and fireworks and the next day we visited some really cool museums. Then we crossed the border which was not very fun. We spent a full day at mancora beach in the beautiful sunshine. Long nightbus to Trujillo and visiting the Huaca de la luna chimu temple and the chan chan ruins. Long night bus to Huaraz and a tour of an avalanche devastated city (happened in 1970) and a boat ride in a beautiful lagoon. Our first trip to Lima all we did was nap for a few hours in this amazing hostel which we are at again. It was the best nap ever! Then we took a bus to Ica and I already described what we did yesterday. That is a quick summary. We have had a lot of fun and hope everyone is having a great summer.

Regresamos a Quito
Hey everyone. As of last night we are back in Quito after an amazing week at the Los Cedros Cloud Forest reserve. We met some interesting characters at the reserve and went on a lot of hikes. I, adrienne, rode a mule for 4 hours each way. Crazy right? We built a fence around the chicken coop, built a dam at the watering hole, swam around under a waterfall, and tore down an old bamboo bridge. So now we have bulging muscles. Allison looks like arnold schwatzeneagaer. The reserve was ridiculously beautiful and relaxing with tons of hammocks and books. Everything in the reserve was gorgeous from its riveres to the mountains and the occasional armadillo. (lauren, they are not just dead on the side of the road) We are in the process of getting allison a visa for Brazil while in Quito and then moving on to Banos and Cuenca before crossing the Peruvian border. We have met some well travelled people and have heard many interesting stories. Last night we watched the argentina and ecuador soccer game in a room with tons of old men and Ecuador won by two beautiful goals! (sorry gillian) the whole city went crazy! it was great! Well i wish all of you the greatest summer and tell you to keep checking the blog for updates.

Estamos en Quito!
Our flight into Quito was incredible! We saw lightning light up the sky and surround the clouds. Customs and Immigration were easy enough to get through but we had to wear these intense hospital masks that made it very difficult to breathe. We went straight to our Hostel Chicago and got a stellar night´s sleep. We were woken up about every hour by drunken singers and stray dogs barking. We got up, too excited to sleep in, and ate breakfast on the roof with an amazing view of the city. We then explored Old Town Quito and saw the catacombs underneath the cathedral. They were beautifully decorated and we explored the church and courtyard. A wedding was about to happen and we saw the padre carrying calla lilies into the church. We went to el museo de revolucion which was about the revolution in Quito and we didnt understand most of what the tour guides were saying but it was still fun. We also went to a park in the middle of the city and watched families fail at rowing boats. They continually ran into the wall close to us and we had a good laugh. We went on the telefriqo cable car ride up the side of Volcan Pichancha. The view was incredible and it was really touristy but worth it for the view of the city and the mountains. We took a long nap and now we are about to head into New Town with some people we met at the hostal and eat some dinner! Adios
